Champo, pronounced “char-pour” and translated as “shampoo” from ancient Sanskrit, is a customised hair-care experience out of the UK that has been based on the holistic principles of Ayurveda. Split into three dosha-led categories – Vata, Pitta and Kapha (doshas are the energies that define every person’s makeup, a bit like horoscopes in the Western world) – the British-based brand (its founder is from Indian heritage) adopts modern trichology and harnesses the power of aromatherapy for its targeted shampoos and conditioners. The Vata range is designed to meet the challenges posed by dry, stubborn or damaged hair in urgent need of hydration. Scented with a blend of essential oils, including jasmine absolute, Australian sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla absolute, cedarwood, geranium, palmarosa, it helps create a balance of calm and solace. The Vata Hydrating Shampoo, a 98 per cent naturally derived formula, effectively cleanses, nourishes and tames and is mild enough for daily use. Enriched with king coconut and alma fruit oil, rich in vitamin C, it fights free-radical damage and locks moisture in, improving health and condition. Macadamia seed oil adds lightweight shine plus frizz control while minimising product build-up.
